Keep in mind things may be different for different markets. In the US, dealers already know what they're getting and can start allocating and sending paperwork.
That is not backed up by the stopwatch though. Wouldn't call it "easy". The F80's engine is thoroughly reworked; my guess is that it doesn't share anything with the 296's V6, other than the basic architecture. Both design and driving experience is a matter of personal taste. I prefer the 288 too, but the principle stands. When it comes to art and cars, there is no sense in their prices. Really, the 550? You lost me there. Modern Ferraris drive 1000 times better. I guess your idea of a Ferrari is different to most people. Overall the largest. It still follows EU regs. They are far better in all objective measurements.
...so an agreement but name is unknown - sounds official. It's just a few weeks away - what's the rush to placing / taking a deposit - these cars for most of us take 3 years from debut to garage.
I wonder if someone who got an allocation could post a Ferrari document (personal data blurred of course) .. this would be really helpfull. Otherwise just bla bla.
Like all of you I'm very eager to hear more about the VS but at this stage I'm not sure I want one. Can't really explain why; this is a first.
I think this say it all, both objectively and subjectively. What a modern car should be Imo. That ferrai doe snot build a road going version of this car is not just regs. In any event simple interior would not weigh more than the roll cage etc, and an aftermarket exhaust would take car of the rest. https://www.evo.co.uk/ferrari/296-gtb/207703/ferrari-296-challenge-2025-review-maranellos-hybrid-supercar-goes-v6-only
Yes I can confirm this is 100% legit - I was very lucky to receive one as well… enabling Ferrari to quietly and painlessly remove half a million bucks from my bank account… #stayblessed
Key words regarding hybrid “GT racing regs currently don’t allow for hybrid in the production-based categories”. And for real tracking- the hybrid technology may not yet be durable enough. As a road car I detest turbo lag and non linear power curves.
V6 hybrid is not what we are used to hearing - imagine F80 buyers but it's the best of the best. Ford's V6 GT ton of issues and cramped inside - yet sell for big money. So the V6 thing holds no water Dino engine was used / improved for F1 - VS will have F80 DNA even if minimal. The 599's big deal was the Enzo engine - then came the 599GTO Aperta Wouldn't pass on VS - always unload it if you don't like the car. Have a feeling it's going to be very well liked - 296CH is living proof.
My dealer knows how many coupes and Spiders they have been allocated and are making calls to top clients to gauge interest. No paperwork or deposits yet. Just seeing what top clients want an allocation which they will hold for them. I believe they got 10 coupes and 4 spiders. I didn’t get an allocation out of this allotment. See no reason they’d lie about this especially to me since I didn’t get a spot.
Good luck to the folk gaining allocations, particularly the spiders. To those still awaiting confirmation, I am sure the coupes will get made in decent numbers, if they don't then the price will likely be punchy. From those close to dealers, any further insights re the design language? I see the winglets seem to have made it to production. Any dodgy F80 / 12C style black band or solid engine bay aka the 812 comp? Final question, any insight into the potential name? I hope Ferrari do something more special for Piloti eligible customers.
No info about the name, Spider only if 296 and other 2 F min. in the garage. Dicunt ... Anyone attending the launch in Fiorano on the 12th of May ?
Ferrari is likely to make more of the VS coupes (assuming they sell well) than they did of the Pista which is not a scarce car- but it is popular. In other words- due to the lack of markets embrace of hybrids and the numbers likely being sold how does this car not depreciate? The Speciale was available under MSRP for years and it was more important and likely made in much lower quantity than the 296 VS will be. Please don’t get me wrong, performance wise the regular 296 is a fantastic hyper car for the road. I am buying an AF version this week knowing that the depreciation will likely continue. Prediction: The AF package on the 296 will be rarer than the VS car- and 10+ years from now will be very desired. A real sleeper?
Prediction: the car will be immediately sold out. Does it mean its aftersale value will climb ? I guess maybe in the very short term, but not necessarily in the medium / long term. The immediate sold out will be because everybody thinks that the only way to make a profit is to be one of the first customers to get delivery, so everybody is in a hurry in the hope to be among these first deliveries (at the quantities and price levels now targeted by Ferrari, most customers are interested in the investment side of the purchase rather than the car side). Of course it will not work for most, taking all orders at once is no help to speed up production. So most of the customers hoping for a quick delivery and a profitable flip will have to wait one, two or more years - by which time the second hand market will be clogged by cars.
