Sorry, I thought you were working for Ferrari and flying to Italy because of the new tariffs. In Germany and France, the order books are not closed—they haven't even opened yet. Dealers received a list and they need at least two weeks to contact customers and get confirmations. The VS Spider customer list come yesterday to some German dealers.

Many things will change and the biggest Ferrari market, which accounts for 40 percent, is down. Around 80 percent of users here have said they will not buy the VS if the price increases by 25 percent. In the next 4 weeks will many things change about Ferrari.

if tariffs happen- which i think in the end wont because trump will force a deal- then resale values should go up no?

Yes, but I think less than many people are imagining.

I bet there's a big spike in pre-owned prices now and that they'll settle a bit higher, but I don't know if they'll stay bananas for long. From a macro perspective, if the average price goes up, it means either supply of used cars is down or more $$$ are being spent. And those dollars have to come from somewhere at the same time that presumably more $$$ are being spent on new cars.

Supply probably will decline. Some new $$$ will flow into the used market from people foregoing new Ferraris. But Ferrari can't let their sales collapse. They still have to move units. Some unit sales will shift from US to other markets, but those other markets can only absorb so much.

My guess is that they're going to have to absorb a lot of these tariffs. End users will see an increase, but not 25%. That's certainly what RACE market action would suggest. And once the dust settles, I'd expect the bump to used car prices will be smaller than whatever the bump is to out-the-door new car prices.

    We'll see.

I think there will be even more, as the US dollar is losing significant value against the euro. And Ferrari reports in euros. Ferrari will under no circumstances forego profit, as this would cause the stock price to drop significantly. Instead, the cars are more likely to be shifted to other regions.

dealer says 10% increase to take effect immediately. ferrari is going to ease buyers into it. i predict the rest of the 25%will be integrated into the semi annual price increases they do... or in between. 5% at a time. they will make buyers pay for it and buyers WILL pay for it because most ferrari buyers will second mortgage their homes to get one.

I was contacted yesterday and was offered a VS GTS. Hope there is a trade agreement in place by the time the car actually arrives.

Not just for this car but for everything else I already have on order that is arriving after next week.

I'm curious to know if you know the criteria for selection?

I was told you need to have 3 cars in garage (and keep until delivery), no need to have 296GTB. Ratio of spider to coupe (1:3). and yes dealers know allocations at this point.

The stock price is already down. The market clearly expects that they'll need to absorb some of the tariffs. That's also consistent with today's announcement.

It's supply and demand. If they can get people to pay more for the cars without impacting unit demand, it means they were leaving money on the table before the tariffs. Which would have violated your never forego profits principle.

This was the case in years past, but with prices and production numbers where they are today, presumably their cushion of excess demand is thinner. If it's thinner but still fat, you're absolutely right, it will get passed on to customers eventually. But I'm not sure they have that much pricing power anymore. We'll see.

As for the falling dollar, yes, it's bad for their margins (they do hedge, but can only hedge over relatively short time frames). But let's see where the USD goes from here.

Regarding their ability to shift units to other markets, they'll be limited by the ability of those other markets to absorb the additional inventory.

If true, this would be first-order bad for used car prices once the dust settles (I'm sure there will be a short term shock). It would mean more total dollars spent on the same number new cars. If anything you'd expect this to mean more supply of used cars (to finance the purchase of these more expensive new cars) or less $$$ available to buy them (because budgets are exhausted on the new ones), either of which would be deflationary.

There is an argument in this scenario that it would still be bullish for used car prices: the psychological impact (it will seem like you're getting a deal by comparison). I'm sure this will matter. But that money will still need to come from somewhere. Maybe mortgages.

I don’t know the eligibility criteria but these are the Ferraris I currently have in my garage.

308 GTS, Pista Spider, 812 GTS, Roma Spider, 296 GTS, and SF90 spider in the garage. Also have 12 Cilindri spider and Purosangue on order.

In my opinion, with the tarifs duties, I think there will be a lot of allowances available because it will start to be very expensive for the 296, even in Version Speciale. If after all that he doesn't win the Nobel Prize in Economics:D:D...

Perhaps ppl can share their perspective. Every manufacturer is going towards hybrid. Regulations are driving that. Doesnt matter how much we love or want a NA or Forced induction motor, the reality is hybrids…at least for now. Maybe perhaps with bio fuels we can bring these back but guess what? Sound will still suck. The emotion that came from sound unfortunately has already started to fade. Regulation is the reason for that. Puro or 12 cilindri dont sound anywhere as good as the prior gen cars. I’ve driven the 296 and 458 and 296 is much sharper tool. What gave me goose bumps in the 458 was the sound not how it drove in regular driving. Even f8 was a better driving experience but lacked sound. 296 is better in both categories compared to f8. Not sure where the future is for the enthusiasts but we are all having to adapt. One thing i think, we can all agree on is hybrid still better than a EV.

Purists from chrome bumpers/ manual F1 / exhaust sounds / back seat / FUV / hybrid / full ev / Halo V6 all agonize and understandably so - purists locked in the era they can relate to - it's as you mentioned the future and purist loss of engineering and enjoyment.
Beautiful cars of all brands ended decades ago - - new cars looks reflect performance.
Carbon the new chrome, hybrid the new V12.

I'm very fortunate to have both 458 and 296, hope to get a 296VS, and keep, what I believe are the best of both worlds!
