296 VS

Hi, I have been allocated a 296VS coupe, and I have the fear that due to sound regulations, like it has happened with the 992.2 Carrera and the 12 Cilindri, the 296 VS will be forced to have doble the silencers in the exhaust than the 296 GTS has, and therefore sacrificing the sound quality.

Anyone understands EU sound regulations to verify that a new 2025 car must have more noise restrictions than the regular 296 presented years ago?

I am big big fan of the NA cars, really enjoy my Speciale and Competizione, but I can tell you the more I drive my 296 GTS the more I love it and appreciate it. Drives and sounds great, maybe I’m getting older

 

Isn’t the 12cilindri only 2db softer than the 812? I’m sure it’ll sound good from the drivers seat, which is of utmost importance.

 

it does sound good from the driver’s seat. At least in my opinion (whatever that’s worth) ‍♂️

I took the Pista Spider to the track today. It was certainly fun to drive and thebsoubd was awesome. However, compared to the 296GTS, it feels big, brakes were not as good and it doesn't turn as well. I'm actually faster on the track in the 296GTS than in the Pista Spider.... got me excited what the 296VS is going to be like!

 

Where are you getting these values?

I'm still not sold the next version is better - 360 Straddle is proof, going forward things are getting messy - for all. Never drive anything but the hybrids, XX is to over the top but the VS could be very usable

That value for the 812 Superfast is for the ones with or without GPF?
My 812 SF got delivered on June 2020 and was the first one in my dealer with GPF, the previous ones did not have it… damn it

That's right, the measurement was on a 2018 Superfast.

 

I’m biased of course as an owner (16M), but my favorite sounding Ferrari is the Scud or 16M. Somehow it gets this high pitch scream when you wind it out. With that said, from inside the car, the 296 sounds amazing to me. Don’t know how the heck they got a turbo V6 to sound like that, but it is truly music.

 

Also 16m full capristo - Ferrari tweaked the 16m amazing car and it's almost as quick as Speciale.
They also tweaked the 812GPF - adding hp to make up for the loss, win win to remove GPF on 812GPF. Haven't done it - yet. Love 296 finally got some weather to take down top - it's a lil beast.

 

I don't know, but somehow 6 cylinders sounds strange for a Ferrari. Maybe it's a matter of the head, but when I test drive the Purosangue in Fiorano, I immediately felt emotions. I find it strange that a real sports car 296 is quieter than a Purosangue.

I also think it's sad that Ferrari is not limiting the 296 vs spider. Like with 458 Aperta, this leaves many rumours open that Ferrari will build around 2000 Spiders alone and 3000-3500 Coupés.

List price will probably be around 390000 and Spider 450000.

Over 1500 cars for sure and that's a lot for a spider vs version.

 

As far as I know, every customer needs a 296. If you want a 296 VS Coupé. The question is whether that is true.

 

I was told unequivocally by my dealer that you do not need to own a 296 to qualify. For the coupe you just need to own a Ferrari. New or Pre owned would make you eligible. For the spider you need to own 3 Ferraris or more and one needs to be a new one purchased in the last 2 years. These are the prerequisites directly from Ferrari. They also told me Dealerships can make up any prerequisites they want but the above is the official parameters directly from Ferrari. I believe this to be true because another dealership offered me an allocation if I bought a 296 from them which I passed on. the dealership which gave me the parameters from Ferrari is trying to get me an allocation without owning a 296.

 

but there are not enough allocations. I bought both versions GTB and GTS explicitly to get a VS, and got passed over for VS. No allocation.

 

I don't believe you that. With all due respect, that's fake news. Just like many messages here in the chat. If you have both versions of the 296 you will almost certainly get a VS.
