What was the camera car? It sounded great and looked as if it had the power to pass the Maser at any time.

  3. Stock Maserati. Camera car was an engine stock z06 Corvette. We were just throwing the Maserati around for a good time.

yeck, look at the body roll. That's part of the reason I didn't keep mine.

Gotta get that thing more sideways and hold it through the corner!!

  6. The camera car was exactly that. They were just playing around. The Maserati is so heavy and has so much body roll. The vette is way more capable on the track. Not trying to drift...just sliding around. Besides, its too expensive of a car to take serious risks...all in good fun.

I lowered my car and I changed my front sway bar for a thicker with 3 positions, body roll is largely stopped today. I will change the rear sway bar in a few days, too.

I think the Mas in the video is not lowered and do not have very good tires (probably the Michelin Pilot Sport)...

If you solve these different problems, you get a nice road AND track car!!!

I could not agree with you more.

maaan... I was thinking exactly the same while watching the video... lowering makes a big difference.

Another observation I'll have to make is that it is obvious the Maserati did not have MSP engaged... maybe a little more driving to get the driver used to it would result in taking much better/faster curves without sliding.

Jack, what tires do you have??? I used to have Michelin PS and just bought me a set of PS2 and they have made a big difference, far superior than the first ones.

I used Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 Extra Load for the road and Pirelli P Zero Corsa for the track. As you said, the PS2 are far more superior than the previous version (the worst high perf road tires IMHO). If I compare the PS2 to the Corsa (semi-slick), the grip is very good (around 80% of the Corsa) but the sides are too weak for so much weight / body roll.

The fact that the driver of the Maserati missed just about every apex could explain the excessive body roll and sliding.

  11. I should have put a note at the top of this post. We were purposely sliding the car around for fun and film sake. We were inducing the car into slides. Just having fun...

That being the case you did it right then... my advice is to be careful slides are sometimes unrecoverable and I doubt you would want to put a dent on your baby.
