Does anyone have a set of 2nd and 3rd gear syncro's for an early 308. Or does anyone know where to get a set at a reasonable price (hahaha?) . I'm doing a little planning ahead and want to capture some parts before the price continue to rise.

I got mine from GT Car Parts in Phoenix. Dave and Bill figured out that the blocker rings are the same as some Lambos (both made by ZF). Still expensive, but better. -Steve

Any way you go about it those syncros are pricey. Didn't someone track a person down at ZF who found out the syncro is out of some Volvo truck or something?

Another thing to note is that these transmissions do not have removable synchro hubs (dog teeth); you need to replace the entire part as one unit. The actual part looks a lot like the Porsche G50 1st and 2nd gear synchro, but I kind of doubt those cross reference to our application.

I was told they were the same as a Porsche. Although, I don't know which model.

Porsche only owns the patent on the type of synchro the Ferrari uses. The actual part is not a Porsche part. I just spoke with and emailed Chris Magiera with ZF Chicago in the aftermarket division who is forwarding my request to Germany to see what it might be for and how available the part might be. Will keep fchat posted.

received the following email from superformance:

    Thanks for the mail.

This is a rumour that we have also heard before but I don’t think that I can shed any more light on this matter. We purchase these synchro’s purely as a Ferrari part, as we don’t supply parts for Porsches so we are not really aware of a crossover! If you do find out any more information on this we would be quite interested!! So please keep us posted.

still waiting to hear back from ZF. Chris said it would take better part of a couple days to hear back from Germany on this one
