Second gear is stiff to push into, is that normal for the 348's? Its the same whether im going from 1st to 2nd or 3rd to 2nd, ok maybe 3rd to 2nd is a little bit easier but not much, theres no graunching or any noises at all, its just really stiff to put into 2nd, anyone else have this problem? I know the dog leg boxes arent great but on a 348 what other choice is there. I will change the oil and see if that helps but if anyone else has this problem please let me know

Perfectly normal, unless it persists after the car has warmed up. With a few caveats...

At any temp, my car (and from what I hear many others) doesn't like being shoved into second in about the top of the bottom 1/4 of the rev range. She either wants to be wound up and shifted quickly or not spinning fast at all and gently guided in.

At any rate, just make sure you do not do anything the car doesn't want to do (you will know) and you should be fine.

most of the 348's do it to some degree.
Lots of posts including some of my own gear oil experiment.

shuffle from 1st to 3rd until she warms up..

as previously mentioned, don't force the car to something she doesn't want to...

try changing your gear oil (or having it changed) to some of the recommended ones. Should help it out.

I think it is normal. I've had the same "problem" in my F355 since I bought it. Once all the fluids are warmed-up, it ****s much smoother.

Quite Normal but some will say theirs don't do it. I just go 1st to 3rd until up to temp, simples.

so looking at other threads it seems the Redline Superlight Shockproof Gear Oil is the stuff to use? What is the best oil to use to fix this problem, I dont care about the cost.

So you drain ALL the oil from the transmission and refill it with ONLY this oil above? (or similar oil)

Yes and yes - see the link in post #3. I changed to the superlight about a week ago and this is after doing a change using the "proper" NS about 2 months ago which made no difference. Gearchange is so much nicer now even from cold.

In the UK it cost £85 for 5 litres (you need 5 as each bottle is slightly less than 1lt and the box takes 4 lts)

WOW, what a difference!!! I put the Redline in and had instant gratification. The car shifted from 1st to 2nd and back no issues. Shifting through all gears was better, most def the best option to what Ferrari recommends.

I'm not affiliated with the seller. My research shows this is a good price for Red Line products so want to pass it on to fellow f-chatters. I recieved my order in approx. 5 days. There seems to be few bids so I waited till the end of the auction and purchased one case for $70.00 + shipping.

Sorry for the poor copy of the ebay listing. Not sure what the problem is. Search for Red Line Superlight Shockproof gear oil and look for seller autochic1

I seen that on ebay, I didn't see it again after it ended. That is a great deal on it! I ended up paying 15.00 per qt free shipping on ebay. Still not bad compared to other sites I've seen.
