I got tired of the paper gasket and leak risk on the 2V engine builds. R&R of the manifolds during teardown and inspection and also over the course of various project tests I decided to modify the manifold to use silicone 'O' rings. I have the bottom plate machined flat and remove ~1.5mm of material then a an 'O' ring is cut into it. The groove is not a simple groove it's actually a proper 'O' ring groove per Parker engineering.

I'm posting this for anyone interested in doing this. I'll talk to my machinist and get a price on doing this and update the thread. For those interested.

Given that the water jackets run right along the intake runners it's always bothered me that coolant is only being kept out via a paper gasket. Typically manifolds like this utilize a silicone gasket or bead seal.

Did you notice any fit prob with air box. The gaskets are pretty thick, and now the distance between the carbs will increase.

A friends car had corrosion and much difficulty getting those sealed properly, we thought how nice a seal like you've setup would be.

No, only because I had the manifold thickness reduced to keep the geometry the same. And yeah it really does help the ones with bad corrosion, the set in the pic were really bad.

Weird timing on your post. I have to believe this will improve coolant flow in the heads as it will prevent the calcium build up behind the gaskets. Curious to hear the price. I need to surface cut. The manifolds I just cleaned have some pitting.
