I was up there shooting the breeze this AM, drooling over a 550 when a guy pulled up in a Mondial. I asked Bob what was up with the car and he told me they had just taken it in trade.

Care was immaculate. A 1988 I think with around 7K miles. One owner, every book, tool, and assorted top cover still with the car.

Now I'm not a huge Mondial fan, but this car was exquisite. Original paint looked showroom new. I'm sure it'll be listed soon on their website, but I'll try to get vin or serial number if anyone is interested.

Here are some shots I got with my iPhone so forgive the quality. There was not a ding, dent, scratch or curb rash on the car anywhere.

    Does need a major.

Very nice! I am really interested in seeing what they ask for it.

Does anyone know why this car does not have the diagnostic screen on the center console. I tend to see some mondials with it and some without it. Did it become optional at some point or was it phased out in later years. I have an '86 with one and think it is a big fat waste of space, considering that you cant see any warning light whatsoever unless you are driving in the dead of night.

When I bought a new 1988 Mondial Cab 3.2 it didn't have the diagnostic screen. I asked the dealer about it, and he said that Ferrari had phased it out the year before, too many problems with false positives...

    Wowser.

Be great for all you Mondial guys if they got it. Sounds pretty aggressive to me.

If they get 45K for that one. I will be one happy Mondial owner...it will be the first investment I have made in the last 12 months that would have a (+) in the return column ;)

His post is not a violation of the rules in any way shape or form, as I understand them. Giving a heads up on good cars in the area, or helping someone find the car they are looking for is not a violation of the rules. In fact, it is an essential function of this board and one I personally have relied on from time to time.

Of course, you knew this already based on your extensive posting and experience on this board.

Don't question it...just keep your fingers crossed that it needs a major and a minor...and sells in 3 days for 45K.

I NEED THIS TO HAPPEN ;)

I have this crazy hunch that you have a bone to pick with Dave---I don't know what in particular drew my suspicion...it surely wasn't your screenname or anything. Now, it does feel a bit like you're whining...but I am sure I am mistaken. Rather, I suspect that you spend your time going from forum to forum making sure life is "fair"

Did they give you a cape and mask to go with that computer?

Thank you for your input, but would you mind not hijacking this thread?

Does anyone know if this car was owned by a Doctor, who also happened to own a Ferrari Boxer. I remember hearing about an almost identical car some time ago, but the owner decided not to sell the car. I am wondering if its his.

I know this is going to sound really stupid, but what was it like buying a Mondial new? What was the public perception of it at the time? What did the dealer have to say about it? Where there tons to chose from, or was it a wait 6 month affair? I often wonder what it would have been like to have bought my car brand new, instead of 22 years later.

BTW, your signature line peaked my curiosity so I looked at your profile. I love that cover you designed!!!!!! The OEM one that came with my car is just dreadful and I have been thinking about having one designed for me. You saved me the trouble. I'm going to put it on my wish list once Spring rolls around. GREAT JOB!

Seriously, at what point do you just move on in life. Seriously? at which point did you think, now this is getting a little strange. At which point did you think, I am on my second phony screenname, I am beginning to seem a little creepy? Or, maybe I take this Ferrarichat snub a little to seriously. There has to be some wrong that screams for righteous indignation that is a couple of rungs on the ladder above...I have been banned from F-chat. Maybe there is, but you have not seen it because you have spent your last 3 months trying to get around the Ferrarichat Firewall. Assuming that is the case, may I get you a pamphlet on Darfur for starters...that should keep you busy for awhile.

So we're all crystal clear on this.

I don't work for Algar. I don't get free service from Algar, I don't get discounts from Algar, and I don't get paid when they sell a car that I help a fellow Fchatter find at Algar.

That doesn't mean the owner isn't my friend, he is. But I also don't post photos of each and every car they have. This one rolled in while I was there. It was a pristine one owner car with extremely low miles, and I thought, and I don't think I'm mistaken, that some of the folks here might be interested in seeing the car. And that someone (Paging carbon) might be interested in the vin or serial numbers.

If that constitutes peddling a car, well then excuse ****ing me. Call the folks at Algar. Ask them if I get paid, IN ANY WAY, for the occasional car I post here that fits into the interests of a user.

And in all the posts I've made (I don't recall how many that might be, maybe 4 cars in 5 years) I think two cars have been sold to fchatters who are very happy that I helped them.

The 550 that toggie just bought. Ask him what I suggested he to do when he offered me dinner or a nice bottle of wine in exchange for helping him get that car.

Fellas, I'm not in this for the money. I occasionally post a car of interest because I like the folks at Algar, and I find the car interesting. If I was trying to make a living at it, there would be 14 threads here right now, one for each used Ferrari on Algar's floor.

Now, can we get past this and get back to talking about the Mondial?

    Dave

Believe me, its not from lack of trying. Of course, I am sure he has at least 3 more "whoa is me posts before he moves on to the Barbie and me board.

This car is of particular interest to me, because I believe it was a car I was told about some time ago from Phil T, but that the owner withdrew before I got a chance to look at it. I am curious to learn more as people start joining in.

I asked what a major would cost, and if it was engine in or out. Was told it can be done in the car, but lots easier with the engine out.

I suspect $5K is in the ballpark, but I also don't know if the major is included in the asking price.

    Call 'em and find out.

Algar quoted me 5K for belts and bearings and 5600.00 labor only on a Major + parts.
