I just paid $3.29 for a gallon of 91 octane in San Francisco this morning! Sigh.....
Adjusted for inflation it's still the same or lower price then 20,30 or 40 years ago. So ,on a 60 mile trip it will cost you a cup of Starbucks Frappuccino more then last year, what's the big deal ?
Prices over here are around 1.3 per liter, that's over 4.8 per gallon, that's almost 6$ a gallon What are you complaining about?
I hate when people cry about gas, or even start wars over it. For gods sake stop buying SUV's because you don' think your coupe can hold 3 bags of groceries.
i think norman is looking at the >$3.00 gas as a new data point... it is! when the resistance point is crossed and there is break out, you never know where it will go? pcb
The big deal is that it has tripled in the last 4 years and shows no signs of slowing. The price of oil effects everything in our economy, from groceries to airline tickets, not just the Frapaccino sipping SUV driver.
Tripled in the past 4 years? The price of gas? Not even close, if that's what you meant. I remember back in 1994 driving to NH and there was one gas station that had regular for $.99/gallon on a given weekday. That was 11 years ago. It's been over $2 a gallon for a long time now.
Random gas price observation from Texas..... February '04 when I was driving through premium was $1.72. In September I was paying $1.83 for premium (93 octane), yesterday at the same station it was $2.55. The good ol' days......... Image Unavailable, Please Login
$3.10 at the local shell for 91 When is Bush going to open up the reserves or drilling in Alaska? We need to stop being dependant on foreign oil
Was that the Chevron on 19th and Junipero Serra? SIGH - that's all we (Americans) can do, we'll keep driving and sighing.
So you're suggesting that we should sell our practical car that holds 7 people and gets 12 mpg, but it's ok to keep our sports car that holds 2 people and gets 12 mpg?
How often do you carry 7 people? At least yours does and is not like the plethora of SUVs that carry 5. But hey, a sedan (or coupe) gets far better gas mileage. Carries just as many people as your typical luxury SUV and has more than adequate cargo space. So yes. Stop buying SUVs.
HAHA I just saw a commerical for HUMMER. Apparently the "employee discount for everyone" still applies for the Hummer, limited time only!
Norm, it was at 19th and junipero serra. And by the way to all those who thought I was complaining, I wasn't. I was merely sighing. Recognize the difference. I used to live in Hongkong, and I've been to Europe, so I know how cheap our gas is relative to many other countries. And thank you Koby for pointing out what others fail to understand, the significance of the tripling of gas prices in 3 to 4 years and its effect on the economy. Sigh..... Norm
Uhh, you must be on the wrong web site. A Ferrari site is the wrong place to condemn people for buying cars that use too much gas.
I pay $1.60 per litre and 1 US gallon equals 3.785 litres for 91% octane with my additives. What's that? nearly $6 per gallon and I'm only 200 miles from an oil rig, 10 miles from an oil refinery and 4 miles from the head offices of 3 major oil companies! Geesh! Where's the love?
