I voted 5, but only because that was the closest option to every 6/7/8 years. Hell, the old girl went 16 years before she got her first belt change... I'm willing to take a little extra risk - I used Hill bearings and the Ricambi kit.
Prior to engaging the electronic lock out with key fob, simply insert the key, have the car in neutral, turn on ignition and crank for 20 seconds or until you see a move on oil pressure gauge, then engage electronic lock out via the key fob and start. DJ
Its not over the top my friend. Youve owned your car for what.....2 minutes? When youve seen as many engines on the cradle as I have then maybe you can talk. Ive had my car(that is a 355 not a 348) for 8 years and I know the model like the back of my hand now. The members you say are doing things right and I agree are the ones that post about their cars often on here and also have varying degrees of knowledge. Its the majority that post now and then and when they post they dont have a clue whats wrong with their car. They ask silly questions like, where is the cat ecu? Where is my engine number stamped? Why does my slow down 1-4 keep coming on after I topped my oil up with 2 quarts? Oh by the way how do you check the oil levels in a 355? My mechanic can do a 30k service with the engine in...laughable but some in here agree. And a very popular one is...My 355 wont go over 100mph without making me feel very uneasy. You should spend more time reading the many posts on here instead of trying to catch Paps in post count. Like I said many here know their chit with these cars but the majority of owners are abusers of these cars and thats where the bad pos 355 rumours come from. The knowledgable 355 guy knows to buy a 2.7, replace the headers, get rid of the engine killing OEM cats, re and re the heads/valve guides and a few others like installing the Gold connector kit of Dave Helms and then you have a car. The guys that do these things will always do the service when they are supposed to but the majority do NOT. The knowledgable 355 owner knows that these cars are half race car and built on the cutting edge of technology. They require you to have your finger on its pulse most of the time and are not service free like a honda or toyota.
Gerry is 100% right IMO. Very accurate post on the reality of the people owning these cars now that they are $40-50k. I've let my 355 go but this winter I'm takin it all apart and fixing the little stuff I've been ignoring
Interesting. My 355 is a 99. Wonder why there is a difference and the reasons why there was this change in engineering. DJ
Every 5 years. I just completed a full major service last month. The car is a 92 348ts and the engin had never been serviced even though I had records from a dealer on the east coast that charged the owner for a full major. The motor was never out of the car and the belt had never been changed! It was looking bad.
