As many of you know, the F1 pump relay has been a weak point for early, pre-AN 52556 575Ms as well as for early 360s and CSs. The original 30-amp relay, Tyco V23134-B57-X203, Ferrari part # 155437, had relatively soft points that tended to melt and fuse together, causing the F1 pump to run continuously and burn itself out. An improved relay Tyco V23134-B57-X152 had harder points and was available through BMW for around $20. An even better relay, Tyco V23134-B57-X266 was available for a short period of time and appeared to completely solve the fused point problem. I have had one of those fitted to my 575M for over 10 years with no problems. Some recent research showed that BMW is also using the X266 relay and it is now available through the BMW parts system for around $35.

    F1 Pump Relays
    30 Amp
Tyco V23134-B57-X203: Ferrari Part Number 155437

Tyco V23134-B57-X152: BMW Part Number 6136-1-393-403

Tyco V23134-B57-X266: BMW Part Number 6136-8-366-646

Note: Late 575Ms, post-AN 52556, have a 50-amp pump relay also used in the engine compartment and those have caused few, if any, problems.

As mentioned on the 360/430 forum, the later model 430's had an external diode to protect the new 50 amp relay contacts. There is a diode inside the Tyco -X152 (across the contacts) which may perform the same function as the external diode, but there appears to be no diode across the contacts in the currently available -X266.
The diode is available from Ferrari at a cost, but would need to be wired in.

You seem to have got in at the right time, Terry.

I just read the specs on the -X266, and it says something like "contact the relay manufacturer if you need a custom relay with diodes, etc. It seems BMW may have requested these. I see some relays for sale labelled Tyco/BMW and they show a diode on the output pins.

    U$112 though.

Thanks for sharing the detailed info.

The full part number helped identify the correct relay.

BMW Parts did not have it on the shelf. They had to order from their warehouse: the X152 @ $35.

    FYI - They quoted the X266 @ $65.

    Question:
    If I upgrade the F1 Pump Relay to the "X152" - Should I upgrade/increase the F1 Pump Fuse from A30 to A40???

The reason why I am replacing the Relay is because it has burnt two (2) green A30 fuses.
I am hoping that the Relay replacement will fix the A30 fuse problem.

    Thanks!!

Not knowing the circuit you are dealing with, I would be highly doubtful that changing the relay will fix your blowing fuse issue. I would NOT replace the 30A fuse with a 40A. You are looking to burn up some expensive pieces if you do that. You need to figure out why the 30A fuse is blowing.

Thanks. I appreciate the feedback and advice.

After further research, I am now more inclined to belive that it is the F1 Hydraulic Pump Electric Motor.

Do you have access to a clamp-on ampere meter so you could verify currents in the circuit?

A decent clamp-on DC amp meter should cost less than 1 hr of Ferrari mechanic time.

You may have difficulty finding a section of pump wiring to "clamp". You can buy ammeters which plug into fuseholders (and use the exiting fuse). i.e. hands off operation. Unfortunately , the cheaper ones only go up to 20amps and may not have a peak recording mode.
