Who is afraid to use his Ferrari on long trips..?? Don´t be!! We did the following with my 1987 328GTS. Amsterdam - Italy - Monaco - Spain - Amsterdam Day 1: 900 miles/1450km´s in 15 hours straight at a constant 110MPH/180KMH (5000rpm) through Germany. Only stopped for gas (petrol), food and pictures. Departure 04:30 arrival 19:30 (pic 1 Gotthardpass in Switserland) The days after we went to Pisa (160mls/260km´s round trip), Firenze/Florence 125mls/200km´s round trip and other daily excursions of approx. 60 miles round trips. (pic 2, somewhere in Toscany, Italy) Day 7: 400mls/600km´s to Monaco (Pic 3) Day 8: 300mls/500km´s to Spain. (Pic 4: Spain by night. ) Day 14: 900 miles/1450km´s in 13 hours straight, only stopping for gas (4 times) and stretching our legs 5 minutes every every half tank of gas. Departing at 01:15 and arriving 14:45. The first 250miles/400km´s in HEAVY (!!!!!!) rain really slowed us down. Proof: Drove her every day (28 to 35 degrees celcius outside temp.) and oil consuption was zero! Don´t worry! Just drive and enjoy. OOPS! Almost forgot. We really did use a lot of gas. Constant 110mph = 1L : 6km Italian mountain roads = 1L :6km, But lot´s of fun!!! Truly a reason to ship your car over to europe. She was in her element. Normal consumption: 1L : 8km´s
As a (probably) new 328 owner (just signed contract) your post is EXACTLY what I want to see - folks that drive the heck out of these cars and don't hesitate to do so! Thanks!!!!
