Does anyone know if the QV gearbox is interchangable with the 2 valve gearbox. I believe that the QV internals were beefed up a bit My questions are: 1) Will the gearbox of a QV match the crank casing and front cover casing for a 2 valve engine, 2) Will the QV gearbox fit a 2 valve bell housing unit and transfer gear set? If it is not a direct swap does anyone know what mods are required to get a QV gearbox to fit a 2 valve crank case, bell housing and transfer gear set? Cheers Tom
Tom, The QV gearbox is essentially identical to the 2V gearbox, except that there's an oil pump on the back(passenger end) of the tranny that ensures better oil distribution. The 328/Mondial3.2 bell housing/drop gear assembly is allegedly stronger, but the transmission appears essentially identical to the QV tranny. Even the 2V tranny is plenty strong for that engine, unless your engine is developing something north of the 280 hp the OEM clutch will limit you to.
Thanks Verell There was a complete QV box available on Ebay UK with 30K on it that I was considering bidding on, which I did, but I was beaten, it went for £580 sterling, which was still a bargin I think. Cheers Tom
not published by ferrari, but my digging into AP racing netted some numbers, it's the clamp force of the pressure plate that limits HP. the racing kevlar disk will get you to about 300 crank HP. I'll see if I can dig up the spec sheet.
