Hi Everyone, I got to looking into the engine bay this morning and saw that one of the gas pipes for the EGR system had come lose and was just hanging there, so I decided to remove the system after reading some old posts about it since I don't have to pass emissions anymore. I then started looking at the Air Pump and thought maybe I should pull that system out too. I got to looking at it and it doesn't seem all that bad to take out. I'm looking at pg. 73 of the owners manual and the hardest part seems to be the air injection manifold. Doesn't look like you can get to it form the top can you get to it from the bottom? Does this need to be removed or can you leave it in and cap it off? Does anyone know if it's ok to pull out the EGR and Air injection system? If so does anyone have pictures of the engine bay after it's been taken out. Also, on the bottom of the expansion tank there are 2 electrical leads conected to it are they for the cold start vavle and if so is it ok to disconect these? Any help here is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

In respect to the air pump the "proper" way is to remove the pump, hoses and rails/injector nozzles and use special plugs for the eight holes that are left. These can be tricky. Do a search...lots of info on these. If you leave the rails for any period of time you should cap them off where the hoses used to be. I used brass caps from a hardware store. You will also need to cap the fittings at the cats [if you have them].

Can't help you on the egr system...I am curious too.

Below are pictures of the three temporary caps I installed. First pic is the front bank, second the cat connector and third is the rear bank.
