altho I can't be sure that it will fit a 308 or 328 I bought an ignition switch from Bavarian Auto and it cost about $120 bucks complete with the locking mechanism and keys . They were just great and can be reached at 800 535 2002 or www.bavauto.com. The switch was from a 2002 BMW. I am only a lowly 246 owner so I do not know if it will fit a 308 or 328 but they seem to share many parts. I attach two photos for your review (the old one & the new one). Champ

The electrical portion of the ignition switch is from a BMW 2002.
The BMW part # for the switch is 61-31-2-682-120
    Ferrari part #7000707
    SWF#800.040

It used to be a $40 part from an aftermarket BMW supplier, but I think that the BMW dealer wants a lot more.

    Rik,

Last year I needed to replace the electrical portion of my ignition switch (1982 Mondial). What I found is that the only switch currently available is the one for a F355 (Ferrari now lists the F355 switch as the replacement for all Mondials, 308, 328, 348 along with the F355). The switch assembly is similar to a 308 but is not a direct replacement. However the electrical portion IS identical with the only difference being slightly shorter wires. The bad news is you cannot buy just the electrical portion, you have to get the whole thing.

Check this thread for pictures and the part number for the switch http://ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=49396&highlight=mondial+ignition+switch
