I'm looking to change the 2 small v-belts that run the A/C, water pump and alternator on my 308. I checked the archives and cannot find any sources for these. Is there a cross reference or generic part number for these or am I stuck going to the 'usual suspects' for them. Any input would be appreciated.

They're both Gates Polyflex belts. Go to an industrial supply house as they're used for machinery. You won't find them in any auto parts store. Have the length of your current belts when you go.

Yes, the usual suspects will have them also.

The Gates P/Ns (were) in the off-line Old FerrariChat archives.

This is topical for me as I could not drive my car as it was raining here in CA. I hadn't started it in about 6 weeks, I usually drive it one a week or twice a month normally. I have changed my belts about once a year and never had the snapping sound reported by others until this last gates alt. belt. It was making noise for about 5 minutes and really fraeked me out. Once the car was warm it went away. I have been told that it is because the belts are made of a plastic type of material. What is funny is I have never had this happen before. I am running the belts semi loose as to not overload the wp bearings but it is not that loose. I even got a gates cricket belt tension gauge to check it. I have been told if you tighten the belt it will go away but I am leary to do this as changing the wp on my car is kindof a chore......

I just replaced my 7M975. It was making that snapping noise. When I checked it was loose and glazed. At the risk of placing a strain on the WP I tightened it so it had about 3/8" deflection at it's longest point. Sound about right?

Special order through NAPA from a warehouse in Utah.
    I paid 19.50 for it.
    I'll know better next time.

Thank you all for the information. The Ferrari UK prices had me on edge when I saw them and I knew that there had to be another way. When cold I was getting the 'snapping' noise and it sounded like a washing machine full of chestnuts until the belts warmed up a little. Another one off the list thanks to F-chat.
