I saw on the news tonight that an 18-wheeler crashed into a black 308 on I-20 in Shreveport. I didn't recognize the car and I didn't catch the driver's name. The car looked bad in the TV photos.

I don't know any details; anybody? The story said the Ferrari driver was seriously hurt.

An Asian man who owns nail salons around the Shreveport area has a 1980 308 GTSi which is black. This guy's name is Michael and he has an 11 year old daughter named Annie. I don't know if the injured man is Michael but that information will be learned asap.
Luckily Ferraris are among the safest sportscars in the world. I owned a few, years ago. In 1998 a motorhome driven by a drunk teenager, was in the west bound lane heading east on the I-220 loop. Due to the Ferrari's quick handling and steering, I narrowly escaped serious injury or even death. All a trucker saw of me was a red streak dart in front of his rig at speed and haul butt. On the 10 o'clock news that night a report of a motorhome driven by an intoxicated teenager was travelling at a high rate of speed on I-220 loop. In order to stop the vehicle, police had to shoot one of the tires. Sounds like he was more than drunk to me.
I am going to attempt to post a photo of this accident on Ferrari Chat tomorrow sometime.

    Cheers ...

There's a story in the Times print edition that's not online that identifies the driver as Thai Toan, 30, and says that his and his 8 y/o daughter's injuries were not life-threatening. There's a photo of the crash; it was severe. The brief story says that the trucker's load shifted when he changed lanes and that the trucker attributed the crash to the load shift.

That is a scary story about the motorhome; you never know when somebody will go off like that. Frankly, in the crash yesterday I would have expected MORE damage to the 308 from the impact than what is visible; I'm sure the car's a write-off though. I hope Mr. Toan and his daughter get better quickly.

The guy driving the Ferrari 308 which was crushed by an 18 wheeler, Wednesday July 13th survived the crash! His name is Thai Toan, 30 of Shreveport. His daughter, 8 years old, was riding with him along with their dog. Police report that the car was on the shoulder of I-20 due to a flat tire. Investigations are under way. Hopefully by tomorrow night I can post a photo of the accident.
Toan's daughter was treated for minor abrasions and released by paramedics. The pooch was not hurt. A spokesman made the comment that it is a miracle that no one was killed in the crash. Well if they had been riding in an Oldsmobuickrolet, all three could possibly be dead. Ferraris are built to last and that puzzles me why there are so many garage queens ?
