My air pump locked up recently and I am looking to replace it and I believe I have found the proper part. I would like to know if anyone else here as used the Cardone (part number 32207) rebuilt air pump in their 2V 308? Does it fit properly? Any reliability issues that I should be aware of?

If all is well then I don’t think I can beat the $50 cost for a rebuilt air pump.

    Your comments are greatly appreciated.

I used the AirCardone brand on my ex-'78 308 (single large air pump), but the PNs I have are a little different:

    AirCardone 32-109 (metric mounting threads)
    AirCardone 32-112 (standard/english mounting threads)

I'm not 100% but I recall replacing the air pump on a 308 with an identical unit from a late 70's-early 80's Camaro/Monte Carlo. IIRC, was $20-$30.

I flunked inspection because my air pump was not connected.

It would not spin. I removed it and a friend took it apart, cleaned and lubed it. Works like a charm!! (Passed inspection..Yea!!!)

As soon as I got home from inspection I removed the belt to it. It caused back-firing when I shut the engine off. (Tres embarassing!)

I spin it every once in a while to keep it moving and I will reconnect it in two years when I need to get inspected.

If you do this the air injectors will melt. The air normally cools them. Without it they will get destroyed. Instead, just adjust the belt to be very loose. That way if the pump locks up the belt will just burn up. That will save your cam belts.
