Well I just got back from Amelia Island where a 1980 GTBi sold for $50k with 3500 miles on it but not in perfect condition or well detailed. The pre sale estimate was 70-90k which seemed very optimistic...........................

Seems very strong - maybe the setting encouraged a higher price, or the stratospheric estimate nudged it up.

Also I think the 308/328 are getting their "second wind" in terms of popularity.

Isn't it quite selfevident that the 308 design is all the way up there in the ferrari line up; How much would a 308 be worth if the had made only 20? In the future once it gets really difficult to get a nice 308/328 then the truth will come out and prices will quickly reach the 100k mark.

Probably true. I was looking for a 308 before I decided on my 328, and if you want a pristine, original car you will have a long search and a much thinner wallet if you find it.

The cost of restoration is causing many of these cars to be used up and parted out. It will be interesting to see if the 308 follows the 246 up the price ladder. It could happen, because the 246 is coveted, valued collector car and the 308's are still being used up and modified. We'll see, I suppose...

The nice supply of '89 328's may be keeping 308's down a bit. It is a better car in many ways, and the aesthetic differences are minor to many buyers.

While I understand the logic behind your posts my concern is the number of models that are within the same body style as opposed to the 246. You have the 308, 328, 512 and even the 288. I can see where the logic would come in that if the 246 can reach 100k then the 308 should be able to as well as it is a monumental Pinifarina design. To this I say look at the 250 GTE 2+2, 330 2+2, and the 365 2+2. These are all monumental models which by all theories should have reached the six figure mark as compared to the 246 but haven't as of yet.

and that, gentlemen is my .02.

don't you feel that the 330 and 365 are just not as perfect and stylish as the 308GTB/S, they seem more dated in a negative kind of way. And then there is the issue with 2+2 Ferraris. They have always suffered in regards to price and admiration.
