Hi everyone, So here is another missing item, ha ha: I'm missing a carpet piece in the engine compartment of my 308 (#28 and also #30 - right side, have left side). I found out that these pieces are discountinued ... any ideas how to make it work? I was thinking of just buying plain car carpet or black car mats with similar grain as to a Ferrari and cutting these to length myself, but thought I'll ask you guys as well before I go do it yourself route. Thanks again for any input, Mike Image Unavailable, Please Login
It is just a small piece with the bound edging stiched around it, see your local upholstery shop to match it and have them made. That one is a bad one to collect rain water and ruin if you have any trunk leaks.....it is hard to find the match to the early 308 carpet weave but an older shop will have it.....
Match the carpeting as best as you can, Mike and have it bound off. Then send it to Bubba and he'll put it in the corral for two or three days. Then a day in the water trough and finally out in the sun for a day. It'll match what you have precisely. Barry
I found a replacement carpet via a company called Reoriginals. Its imported from Italy and its a very close match top the original -pretty much an up-grade to the original carpet that I suppose pepple can use to redo their Ferraris. More than I'd have paid for black carpet at Home Depot, but .... what the hell.
Mike, I've seen Reoriginal's carpet sets. They do come very close to the original weave. I know you'll be pleased. Barry
Thanks Barry. My car is not a concours winner, but I do wish to have it as nice I can get it - just for fun and so I can be proud of it. I just got one of those spare tire hold down bolts from Daniel at Ricambi as well. I'm "almost" done with my things to do, now ... its for last biggie ... engine hood/ roof paint. Its a metallic color, but let's hope for the best w. color matching! PS. Also noticed that your car's serial is exactly a thousand before me --- mine is 20399.
