I have a 1979 308 GTS. The brake discs are worn, and need to be replaced. Can I use another car's discs and modify them them fit, or is it easier to buy the right ones?
I am sure there are aftermarket brakes you could get, and they would be fine for average driving. But, for spirited or track driving, you should get something more suitable.

I'd go brembo in stock size and play with uprated pads, if you keep the standard wheels this is required...
I have some feedback in the steering from the front rotors having too much runout. These rotors have never been skimmed so I was wondering how much I could have taken off without getting to the "minimum" thickness? Thank you for your feedback, in anticipation.
The min. aceptable thickness is stamped on the outer edge of the rotor. The WSM states 20 mm min. thickness. Sent from my SM-S906U using Tapatalk
Ferrari Parts Exchange has full access to Superformance. Stock rotors at $199 At this low price it is not cost smart to do anything with old ones except make them wall art https://www.ferraripartsexchange.com/collections/ferrari-v8-2/brake-parts?page=9
So, what is the suggestion here? Get them turned if they are still above the minimum thickness level and use new brake pads, or fit new Rotors and Pads?
If it’s only $20 each to get them machined then run with that and if they are still inside the acceptable wear limits then you’re laughing. If not, you will have to purchase those new rotors.
This 100% Check the thickness of the discs (if they're already around 20mm then there's absolutely no point in having them turned), and if there's enough meat left on them, get them turned. If they clean up and you still have 20mm or more thickness left then you're fine. If they clean up but are below 20mm after turning, bin them and buy a new pair of discs from superformance: https://www.superformance.co.uk/308/brakes.html
