Wow! I can sell my 308 and buy three of those ultra rare (only 543 made!) 240Z’s!

What moronic people would put a 240Z above a Jag E-type? And the red-headed stepchild 928 makes the list but the venerable 911 is nowhere to be found? A Citroen 2CV is there but no Mustang? And where's the Corvette? Absolute rubbish.

In their defense, they are called "confused.com" :) I think this report suffers from a severe case of "sampling bias"

They do have a foot note explaining how they arrived at these scores. While the subjective reality may be different, this is what the Internet thinks about these cars.

    The factors they use are
    • Annual Google searches
    • Rarity
    • Current average value of a #1 car
    • Original value increase
    • Recent value increase

Like all of these lists it's a somewhat entertaining bit of click bait and nothing to take seriously.

I knew I shouldn't have sold that rusted out 250 GTO for scrap back in 1977. But, i didn't have place to store it.

Pls show me the actual comps that allowed them to arrive at $258k avg for a 308 GTS. I mean, actually, if anyone has them…

I saw that and almost ruined my keyboard. For glass cars maybe? Where'd they come up with only 6,116 made too?

Its a confusion with a figure of the total sometimes given of 6.116 carbed 308 produced, including 2.897 GTBs and 3.219 GTS...

HOWEVER: as far as I can ascertain (no reps nor warranties...), that total of 6.116 is wrong...the "true figure" for the carbed cars production is actually 6.212: 2.993 GTBs and 3.219 GTSs...
If such thing as a true figure exists, that is...

The "6.116" figure it is based on the oft quoted number of 2.897 carbed GTBs produced, which actually was "rectified" by many authors from the usual factory given figure of 2.993 GTBs produced.
Some here will remember that Mr Roush wrote an article about the glass GTBs, in which he said that the factory total of 808 glass cars produced was actually wrong, and that after he counted the cars/production figures by market, he arrived at the conclusion that there were only 712 glass GTBs produced: difference: 96 cars...
Sooooooo, some writers sheepishly followed his conclusion, and substracted 96 cars from the official factory production figures of 2.993 and concluded that there were only 2.897 GTBs manufactured.

However, in the meantime Mr Roush redid his calculations and discovered that he had been seriously confused with the markets differenciation, notably having made an akward confusion regarding the Right Hand Drive cars production figures, having mistaken the figure of 154 RHD produced for the U.K market only for the total of all RHD cars, so forgetting the others RHD cars such as the 44 produced for Australia, some others for "other LHD countries", etc...
So he redid all his totals, cross-checked the figures, etc...and came to the conclusion that the number of 808 glass cars given by the factory was right indeed...and duly published a correction.
BUT the damage was done: you still find the "712" figure for the total of glass cars manufactured published here and there (which gives a total production of 2.897 GTBs) instead of 808 (and a total of 2.993 GTBs)
Should we want to be totally honest, we can be "reasonably certain" of this 808 glass/2.993 total production figure for GTBs...but the production numbers by calendar year do not add-up perfectly...

And, to conclude: 308 GTS production figures:
    Carbed GTS: 3.219
    Two-valve injected: 1.743
    Quattrovalvole: 3.042
Total 308 GTS production, all engine variants: 8.004

(Total 328 GTS: 6.068 + one factory made cabriolet)

Agreed, this is like those "best place to retire" click bait articles. Written by clueless authors that sell their "work" to magazines and web sites, full of misinformation and uneducated opinion.

I wonder how many are left and roadworthy? A few weeks ago I went to a place in Toronto and he had 4 damaged ones on his backyard as well as a bunch of other cars.
