I want to get my 308 QV in for an alignment, but the local shop who I trust to do it, does not have the camber shims. They said they can do it, if I supply the shims. I've searched and can't find much info on this. Anyone know where to get them? Or what sizes/ how many I will need?

Hill engineering (I would guess Ricambi if you are in the US)

Just buy a selection, they should be able to mix & match with what you have.

This seems more like fear of the unknown -- nothing uber-special about those camber shims.

Heck, you can even get some large washers and cut slots in them to work...

Hmmmmm- that's kind of what I was thinking, that they should be pretty common stuff. This is the only place around that I would even consider taking this car to, everything else is chain Goodyear, Discount Tire ,etc. Sucks when you can't even get a simple alignment! I'd like to add some negative camber, and I know there is not much to add, wouldn't take too much shimming at all, I wouldn't think. I'll call them back and see if they will try.....

    Hello,

It is very possible to get a simple system together to an alignment at home.

The first thing one needs is a flat floor or a floor that has a know angle. One part of my shop floor sloops to the south a slight amount but is near perfectly flat east to west so I park heading north. I have a set of caster tables and a Dunlop camber/caster set. A string setup lets me measure toe.

The tables and the Dunlop items might cost $400 but I have expensed these items over many years. The strings, cheap jack stands and a 6inch machinist rule may be $40.

It is VERY possible to purchase the items need to do a good home alignment at Home Depot or etc.

Most good auto parts stores will have the camber shims. Myself I would wonder about a shop that did not have a good stock as I walked away! Just sayin.........

Ricambi sells the official shims and they aren't that expensive. I bought a few of each size and let the alignment shop have at it. I still have a selection, some new and some vintage. If you are nearby you can come by and borrow the set for your alignment. Your profile doesn't say where you are.

I bought a selection from superformance and brought them to the alignment shop (Scott Crispano, Ridgewood, NJ) along with the car.
