Can anyone share some pics of a set of 308 cams? Preferrably all lined up next to each other. 2V would be better than 4V. Should they be asymetrical? Next investigation, should they be asymetrical because the heads are the same casting side to side? hmmm... I notice they're different part numbers, but perhaps the differences I'm noting are related to getting the bearing surfaces to line up on inverted castings?
Don My stock cams are boxed up in my basement. Unless I am missing something, the cam (lobe) profiles for the two intakes are identical as are the paired exhaust cams. Differences on US cams will relate to drives for distribs, air pumps etc. The cams are numbered relating to their sequence of fitting in the car reflecting this (see the SPC). What are you seeking to learn from the visual reference? Philip
What I'm trying to figure out is that when I lined up, say, both intake cams next to each other, and aligned the two pulleys together, the seal and bearing surfaces didn't match up. THat's the asymetry I'm pondering. Since mine are a bit random of a set, I just want to make sure I've got the right stuff. Especially since I can't find one part number anywhere in the FofUK parts catalogue! For instance, the distance from the pulley to the seal on that end of the cam differs between the two intake cams. I'm guessing that this is normal and related to the use of a common cyl head casting side to side, just want to validate that assumption.
Don I have to pull some parts out of the basement to photo them for someone else. I'll open the cam box up at the same time. The cams should be stamped with a p/n, my P6s were. Philip
