I have a problem with one plug wetting. It is not an ignition issue or a plug issue (done that). Is it possible that there is an internal carb sealing failure whereby petrol can bypass for one cylinder but not the other ? If the float was sticking then surely this would affect two cylinders? Any thoughts appreciated.

If you are sure its not an ignition issue then I'd be tempted to have the carb off and strip it & rebuild it. The postential damage that can be caused by a bad carb washing the bore with neat fuel is not funny - and it can happen in 3-500 miles.

I had it happen a long time ago straight after a rebuild when I skimped & just stuck the old carbs back on. Cost me a rebore and new pistons (Not on a Ferrari fortunately!).

Good point. I think the carb will have to come off asap!

Before you pull it, you might check the AC/Emulsion tube/Main jet assembly for correct jetting and tightness, make sure the idle mixture screw is adjusted the same as the others. The cold start mechanism might be sticking open a bit ?
Just to double check the whole secondary side, pull the plug, connect the wire/extender, ground the plug and turn it over to confirm the ignition on that cylinder.

    good luck,
    chris

Thanks Chris. Bit of a breakthrough. If I screw the idle jet right in , then open 1/2 turn the problem stops. All the other idles are three turns out. Same size jet (50's) - either not seating properly or some **** has drilled it larger. Will try another idle in it tomorrow.
