79 308. I just finished gutting my airbox, and took the car for a drive, and heard very intermittent coughing from one of the carbs (i can hear the carbs alot more without the sound deadening). This morning, pulled the airbox off, and started the car cold, and all four carbs were coughing/backfiring. however, after letting the car warm up, after 5 minutes, they stopped coughing (except one very intermittently). The car has always started a little rough, but then runs fine when warm. Any thoughts?

some coughing and spitting seems normal if the ignition and carbs have not been synced in some time. otherwise i would look into the overall tune of the engine. check for vacuum leaks first.
