Decided to replace my factory 308qv us turn signal lights (front bumper) and ordered replacements from t Rutland on eBay. On receipt I noticed 2 things 1) no made in Italy embossed print, and 2 there is a small square in the originals which have a slightly different hive weave. Not sure if this is something of utility or just was a feature to weed out reproductions. Most people would think plastic identical. My question to you guys is, does it matter if I'm replacing plastic with Oem spec replacements that aren't made in Italy identically? If so, where could I get made in Italy replacements? Could you take a picture of the original next to the replacement and circle what you are referring to? I know that replacements (authentic Ferrari) have a thinner plastic than the originals = a lighter shade. Therefore, I would replace both even if one needed replacing.
Another issue besides the color, is the aging material. I have a BOX of the amber lenses, but to put an original back in and expect it to withstand cracking is an empty wish. They are breaking because of UV degredation, and embrittlement, (and gravel!!) I would go with two new ones, Carello mark or no.....probably can find the Carellos in Italy, apart from that the rest are most likely servicable repros.
The replacement lenses I've got from SF UK have the Carello mark but I'm not sure if they are just reproductions or not. They are definitely different from the originals in subtle ways, including the lighter color mentioned earlier. The one thing I'm positive about is that they are a poor design for longevity... the orignals both had bad cracking around the screws, and I managed to kill both replacements from garage accidents within a few years. On my third set now.
Thanks guys. Yeah the new ones say Carello. Just not made in italy. And like i said there's maybe a 1 by 1 square in the made in italy factory originals that has a slightly different starburst weave. Looks kinda like a trademark thing. Outside of that replacements are perfect.
