    Looking good!

I had the similar little speaker in the 328 that you are holding there - Wasn't sure if it was some sort of cell phone something or what.

If your rear shelf panel is getting dirty, might be a good time to do that also.

When I took the carpet out, there were so many damn wires for alarms and crap - Glad to git rid of all that.

The carpet kit I got did include door carpet - But the 328 door looks to be quite a bit different than the 308 door. Where did you buy the carpet from?

The carpet goes in pretty easy, this one piece is the only tricky part :

Forgot to mention that it is always a good idea to disconnect the battery before removing the center console.

I did not buy it yet.

I ordered a new passenger foot board last night from FoUK. $60 bucks seemed fair.

I am going to check with World Uph sense they are in Santa Paula, I can drop in and check the quality before I buy it. If not then GAHH. I did a check of the usual suspects last night.

On the ICP's site, they have the wording for their carpet, almost word for word, from the World Uph site with a $300 markup. go figure. the POWER OF THE INTERNET!

I priced out FoUK's carpet and it was like $2000 so I think I am going to pass on them.

I am thinking about changing the center console to black. I was suprised to find out that the original color was black to begin with.

I am going to call Wold Uph today and see if they can redo my seat (because of the piping) and redo the center console pieces. If they can't then I will take the seats and console to fernando in NoHO

It's not really that dirty, just in a couple of places. How do you get it off anyway? I am afraid to start pulling stuff off.

Any recommendations on doing it correctly? Lots of glue I would imagine.

I did notice on the firewall sound material, is said "SA" and on other places it said "USA" Anyone else notice that?

hahaha - ah yes the battery.... Blew a fuse befor I figured that one out. :D

The rear shelf is a PITA. It is held in by rivets that need to be drilled out. The 2 tough things are the side windows need to be removed (Putting them back in is a little tricky) and some bolts in the engine bay need to be removed - Which are tough to get to. I replaced mine in leather because I thought it would wear better.

As far as glue, nothing really special - Just give it some good coverage.

I just got my carpet set from World. Mine seems to have pieces that I can't see where they would fit my car. I think they're door panel pieces but my doors are leather too. I'll probably start tearing mine apart in the next week. I hope it all fits somehow!

As for the rest of the interior...

I asked around and found a local guy up here that specializes in custom cars, hot-rods etc. He is doing everything but the carpet for just over $2K. That includes seats, dash, console, headliner, rear shelf, and all the misc. A and B pillar trim pieces.

GAHH or World will sell you a new console cover or seat covers but I think you can get a lot better deal.

By the way check E-bay for World. I got my carpet kit for about $100 less than list.

    Update.....

I ordered my carpet from GAHH yesterday. The carpet came to $811 after tax. I am lucky to live about 30 minutes from World Up and GAHH. The desision came down to customer service and time to get the product.

GAHH said 2 days and World said 8. GAHH wins!

I called TR Rutlands for a replacement center console.

I tried to redye the center console kick panel in Black with the dye I bought from World. ($67 - 2 cans of dye and a cleaner) but it does not want to take so I am going to replace that as well.

I don't have a price yet but once I do I will post that.

So for now, I am just waiting for the carpet on Tuesday and center console and I will start the install. I still don't know what I am going to do about the seats.

    Matt,
I pulled my seats out and had them re-dyed by an outfit that specializes in interior repairs for car dealers. Mine are Crema with black piping. They looked worse than yours and when the guy was done with them everyone asked when I got NEW seats. $300 to do both seats, both door panels, and the console done in black. The only PITA was I had to tape all the piping on the seats and it took forever. The end result is nice though. Check with some local high end dealers and see if they can recommend anyone in your area.

    Good luck,
    John

I got the carpet yesterday and the quality was above and beyond and I got it all installed with the exception of the passenger side foot well. I am still waiting for FedEx to deliver it. I decided to get the center console redo rather then try and find a replacement that I could just drop in. I took them to GAHH this morning. Price to recover the center console, switchplate, clock plate and front foot guard came to $1200. They will be done next friday.

I am saving the door fabric and leather for when I have the door panels redone later this winter.

I still don't know what I am going to do about the seats. $2000 into this and I STILL have the seats left to do:(

I bought some POR 15 for the inside of the doors once I get them off later. My skins are fine. I just wanted to add some insurance.

Why did you go from tan carpet to dark brown? Just curious.

    Hi Jim,

The car's interior was awash in saddle tan. No real contrast. Plus after 23 years, the existing carpet just looked like dirt and no amount of steam cleaning could fix it. The Dark Brown will hide that dirt better. Also, I found a piece of dark brown up under the driverside footwell. glued in pretty good. I don't know if that was a factory mistake or the carpet was changed out in my car before, or the factory needed a piece of scrape carpet to fill in this area.

It should look good once the seats are reskined/refinished this winter.

Once the seats are done, there will be no more cosmetic or mechanical work that I will need to do.

The interior just looked too dirty for me to handle.

    John,

This is a great idea. Up here in the sticks, all we have is a lexus and cadi dealer. I will give them a call.

I will let you know what I find out.

Matt, save the old carpet section that goes under the driver's floor matt. Its the only piece missing out of my car, if you don't mind that is.

    Thanks,

Are you talking about the factory mat with the rubber?

If so, you can have both the driver and passenger. They are the only piece that is still clean!

Where do you want me to send them too?

I'm glad that you chose a darker colour for the carpeting. My 328 has the traditional tan leather interior and black leather dash. My car was ordered with black carpeting and it is AWESOME!

The dark carpet colour really makes the tan stand out and looks so impressive!

    Brandon,

did your car come with the ring covering the allen-bolts of the steering-wheel? Never saw it on a 328, only on testarossa's and GTO's.

Someone else PM'd me about the same question. I did not change anything from when I purchased the car. It is possible that the prior owner did add this, but also take into consideration that my car is an early 328 Euro version where there are a few differences than the US counterparts.

Sorry, I do not have a real answer for you. It is an interesting question though - one that I never even thought of.

    This is a great thread.
I am thinking of having my carpets done as well. I was looking at a lighter weight, tougher square weave. Learning a lot here.

The small horn ring covering the bolts came std on Mondial 3.2s and 328s of similar era, late 1986 - 88 best I can tell looking arond.
