I also posted this question in the 308 section.

Does a German or Japanese car use the same type of self locking nut as Ferrari uses to bolt the cv joint assembly to the car?
    Ferrari part # 101633

    I lost one of mine.
    Thanks

McMaster definitely sells the right style of locknut, but I've never found that they sell the same exact size - Ferrari uses a finer thread pitch. So if you do use the McMaster nuts then be sure to buy the matching thread pitch bolts as well. Do you need the finer thread pitch for strength or clamping force or something? I don't know. There might be a really good reason Ferrari chose that thread pitch for this application. There might be a really good engineering reason or they might have been on sale at the Maranello Ace Hardware, I have no idea. Porsche used this exact same CV joint and put similar amounts of power through them. I wonder what nuts and bolts they used?

I read that FChat just now and I think it is probably wrong. All my orders from them have arrived just as quick, or even quicker, as orders from US suppliers. I don't know all of their shipping practices, but in the seven years I've been buying parts I've never had slow shipping.

Have you personally had orders take a month to arrive?

Yes. In fact the last order I placed with them took so long I contacted them about it and they assumed it was lost and they sent out another. 2 days later to original part arrived. 2 weeks later the second part arrived. I just sent the extra part back last week, 'cause I'm an honest guy. :)

They could have been shipped using a different carrier than Royal/US mail but the shipping would have been 1/2 of what the part cost. As it was, shipping was $13 but with regular mail it's a crap shoot with customs. Order before that was about 2 weeks.

So I've ordered two things from them in the last 3 months. One took about 2 weeks, the other a month + a couple of days.

I would think that any shop that has done some Ferrari work would have some of these nuts laying about. If you still are in need, PM me with a mailing address and I will put one in an envelope and you should have it in a couple of days.

    Aloha
