After reading quite a few posts on the proper way to wash the engine I decided to take the plunge. So I broke out the simple green and a low power pressure washer. I used a leaf blower to dry the engine off and then decided to take it for a spin to heat it up good and dry anything still wet off.

Good news is that the motor came out fantastic............much cleaner.
Bad news is that about 5 miles into my ride the car started misfiring and then the (5-8 cyl) slow down light came on. I pulled into a church parking lot to let it sit and see if I could find anything. NO water in the plug caps and the distributor and coils all seemed fine.
After sitting for a few minutes I took off again. This time the light never came on and the car slowly started to run better.
As I write this I belive it is fixed as it ran great all the way home and the light never came back on. It feels ok.

My question is this: Is it normal that more exhaust flows out of the right side exhaust pipes then does the left? Should they be the same?
The two tailpipes on the passenger side have more pressure coming out than the two on the drivers side. I hope this makes sense.

Thanks alot, Danny (1980 308 GTSi)

Did the same thing with mine (1981 308 GTSi). Same problem (no light though), went away after awhile. Also, my exhaust is exactly the same, right side is definately stronger than the left!

    Thanks.........what a relief!!

I was thinking maybe I had a plug that wasn't firing or something.
