    I am in the process of reconditioning my cylinder heads after an engine failure. My question is, can these be deleted? (See Picture). They seem to cause nothing but turbulence.

    Those are air injection tubes and if you no longer have any smog concern, you can remove those and plug the holes.

    But best to use a "plug" with an end shape that fills the smaller hole (not just a flat ended M14 plug). Do a search on "108205" for prior threads:

    Do the search and read. Verell Boaen at Unobtanium Supply may be one source (but he has said he is backed up lately), or I've previously posted a drawing that you can take to a Machine Shop for fabrication.

    In addition to Steve's notes, if you are a DIY-sort of a guy, do a search under my user name in this specific forum for an old pictorial thread where I've documented making scribed-end plugs out of your old nozzles, for only the cost of a cheap bolt.

    I like this concept as it allows the angled matching of the end of the plugs to the head's exhaust port walls for a divot-free end result.

    I don't have a lathe but I do have a welder. I would remove the injection piece, cut the stem off close to the top, weld it shut, and put the piece back. I sure would not want to wait for Verell to catch up to his order.
