on a 2V 308, has anyone switched placement of instruments - oil temp to dash...fuel to the knee? Ergonomically oil&water temp clustered with oil psi makes more sense. Any diagrams/directions re dash/knee instrument removal/installation out there?
You really wouldn't need any diagrams to do the exchange. Just splice-extend as needed to the wires on the back of the instrument. All you need is to make them long enough to reach where you want to put them. It would be very easy to do. It's really not too bad an idea, actually. Although the benefit would only really be appreciated on the track. It is there where you may find unusually high oil temps with a normal water temp at the same time. That is what my 308 will do. On the street, the gas level would be most important I would think, since any high oil temps will most likely be reflected thru the water temp at the slower pace.
... if you are considering moving gauges around: http://www.ferrari101.com/forum/showthread.php?t=59100&highlight=308+vdo Once the gauges are out of their holes, relocating them is simply a matter of adding wire. Cheers - DM P.S. - Several years experience now with the VDO's, and I can state that the VDO conversion is a "keeper" for sure!
