OK, I tried search without much luck, so... Has anyone changed the final gear ratio in our cars? The engine has a few things done to improve performance; enough that I could use a higher final gearset to drop the revs at legal speeds. Difficult? Expensive? Thanks! Rufus
I'd look into changing the drop gear set in the transfer case first. There were "kits" out there. Not cheap, but seems easy enough. IIRC they were made in Australia.
The drop gear (aka transfer gear) set is your best bet. IIRC a number like $3K. Search here & Tech Q&A. They're hard to find. The differential is thoroughly integrated into the transmission, so changing the final driveratio isn't practical
