    What I have read about other zf differentials the center touches the spider and the outer touches the housing. So it would be like the right hand washer in my picture.

    Does anyone have experience with rebuilding a 308 zf differential?

    other one, like the left side. The cone sits with the inner ring touching the housing and the outer ring is touching the plates towards the spider. It's also shown diagrammatically in the WSM.
