    Hi Simon,
    I have done similar but mine was more reliant on a mass of cables on the workbench and gaffer tape!
    How are you spinning up the distributor, I simply attached a battery electric drill to the splined male section - it did confirm that all plugs were sparking equally and the ignition was advancing but not much else.
    I would be interested in what you have done

    Much neater than my effort.
    Good idea re the speed controller, I was just using the trigger on the electric drill to vary the speed.
    I had 8 of those Sparkrite plug testers connected up, spinning it up in the dark was quite entertaining!

    The motor and controller were quite cheap about £20 all in.
