My passenger door is sagging a bit. Not wanting to waste money on something I don't need I would like to inspect the pins on my door hinges prior to ordering replacements. I have removed the C clip on the first pin and the pin seems to be willing to come out easily. I was able to back it out about a centimeter with little effort. I stopped to ask for a bit of advice before proceeding. Once I get the pin out is there something I can measure to determine if it is in need of replacement or is there some tell tail sign of a worn pin? If the pins are worn I will order replacements if not I guess I will look into shimming the lower hinge. The "lift it with a jack and bend it into alignment" method is a non starter as far as I am concerned.

    Hello Richard,

I replaced all of door pins when I reinstalled my doors last week. My car has 51K miles on it the drivers door measured a minimun diameter of .350 and the passenger side was close to the nominal of .354. The pins appeared to have never been greased and the drivers door pins were badly scored. However, I did not notice any sag on either door prior to removal. I purchased new pins from Superformance (see photograph) and they perfect replacement with the original nominal dimensions. BTW, Superformance had the best price of any of the five vendors checked with.

    Regards,
    Alan
