Drivers door latch is stuck in the ‘locked position’ (with the door open; it did stick a bit when opening). Key works button up and down OK but not rotating the mechanism. I pushed the mechanism when cleaning the car but can’t get it to return.
Can an ordinary locksmith do this or any advice please? Can’t drive the car anywhere as it is driver’s side door which won’t close, but I can get a mobile locksmith locally...

No, but I’ll give it a try in the morning although I think it is an actual ‘mechanical’ issue as there’s not even teeny movement when the key is turned?

May be able to pry with a decent flat screwdriver to the required position.

Having a little more of a think,it's almost as though the actuator lever may have come off and jammed inside the door.

You should have the tools and enough nouce to take off the door trim and access the locking mechanism inside the door yourself.

More of a panel beaters job rather than locksmith who would probably have to the above anyway.

    Try Silicone spray first Karen.

    Hopefully that does the job.

This sounds like it to me. I’m wondering if just taking off the plates around the mechanism of the door will expose that or if the door card needs to come off?

No, no, no! It sounds like you've rotated the disc into the closed position. Pull on the door handle, and try rotating it back with your finger before entertaining any of these more exotic solutions...

No, you said to pry it - it should move easily with the door handle pulled

Just do what greg would do :

    a. buy a new lock
    b. buy a new car
    c. overpay a mechanic

It's the only smart thing to do :p

I vote for "a" but I like the idea of a new car :)
