I managed to damage the U sections of my dual filter setup. I have an 81 2V. The nuts were somewhat frozen and I ended up rotating the assembly and crimping parts of the 90 degree bends.

1] What shops repair fuel fittings
2] Has anyone out there went to a single filter setup like the QV. It just makes more sense and will make it a lot easier to servive in the
    future.

Any other suggestions [aside from me keeping away from delicate assemblies ;) ]

My 82 is set up as a single filter and thats what the parts manual calls for a single on mine.

So I dont see why you can go to one and cut out the dual filter.

I agree...just searching found very little on this. Verell said this in one of the threads:

"I suspect that Ferrari was being conservative about pressure drop across the filter. Initially went with the dual filter setup, then decided it wasn't necessary."

Once you replace the dual filters with new, it'll be close to forever until you'll ever need to replace them again.

Speaking personally, I'd fix what you have, rather than try to do a single filter set-up ( ... which I readily admit would probably still work OK).

You can often order the odd part like the top and bottom "U" tubes from Ferrari UK for a pretty reasonable price - have you checked?

    Cheers - DM

I am checking. UK said in another similar thread they couldn't get the part, It's a "US" only application. So I have two others I am searching out. In the meantime I am checking into a source to repair what I have, although it's already been repaired once by the PO.

The FI fittings and pipe sections are pretty scarce these days. You might try Rutlands or another place that deals in used parts.

Otherwise, take them into a good hydraulic repair / service shop that works on fork lifts (because that stuff is metric), and they can fabricate anything you want.

I've had success with this on past projects.

As for single vs. dual filter set-up??? Doesn't really matter...But note, that if you do change over to the single set-up, the filters are different (p/n's).

To expand on Verrell's comment, it was Bosch, not Ferrari, that specified the filter layouts. I discussed this one day with a buddy of mine at Bosch, and he confirmed that the single filter actually has the same pressure drop across it as the dual filters (taken together) do across them. It was a filter design improvement that allowed them to go to one filter (and keep the same system flow rates / pressure gradients).

Remember if you change to the single filter set up ----- get the correct one, or you may possibly find your FI acting squirrelly.

Thanks for all of the help/suggestions all...I have a local shop that works with some car restoration shops that is making up a whole new assembly for me with an extra 1/4" gap so I can actually fit a socket between the filters. Not too costly either ;)
