    I need to determine the engine number, vice VIN, on my 1985 308 in order to get the proper warm-up regulator. I've noticed a "703" stamped into the frame-rail in the engine compartment behind the driver. Is that the engine number? If not, where do I need to look?

    The number is on the block at the top above the waterpump, closer to the rear head.

    What's the flat piece of metal, roughly pointed, perpendicular to the intake manifold along side the runner of #1. Don't have on my car (77)? Just curious.
