Good luck, hope you don't get "the heart breaker" Mustang machine. When all else fails read the damn manual. - wife
If you recall my experience with Paul in Canada. There is a difference between the various Dynos and how they measure hp. The Mustang machine reports lower hp then the more common Dynos around. They even had a painted line at the door stating "the B.S. Stops here". There is a technical discussion near the end of my thread on the how and whys.
Battery died yesterday. So I went to autozone to have it checked. The guy told me it won't take the charge. "Oh man, why not??" I said. "Well, it is 7 years old" he said. "Doh!" I said. Anyways, here's a picture. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Well folks, today was a big day! I finally installed the inner tire liner. Oh yeah!! Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
It is! it isn't always about the numbers.. you wrenched on it, you invested the blood sweat and tears so now you get to also enjoy the rewards. besides your day on the dyno is guaranteed to be more exciting then any day I spend on one, I have to tune and push the motor right to the limit. I chalk it up to a pucker factor of about 8~9. we're all awaiting the final tally.......
I'm still here at the dyno shop. I didn't know it would be this long. Here's a YouTube of a run. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bLPpmFFjyq0[/ame]
Chris, Did you have your laptop connected to the TEC unit for data capture? It would be interesting to compare the A/F ratios as recorded on the laptop as compared to the dyno. Also, did you do any MAP adjustments between dyno pulls? Best way to dial in the TEC.
Sorry guys, just got to work. Well, the numbers aren't what I would had hoped for. I think he could had pushed it more but we ran out of time. Spent a lot of time trying to figure out if the timing was off, back firing from exhaust and one of the throttle bodies. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Timing of what Chris? Top dead center? I would be curious why only one TB was popping. What was max rpm? HP=torque X RPM divided by 5250, so rpm has a big influence on HP readings. Also your tire size and weight has an affect on torque readings most certainly on low end. What was AFR at wide open throttle?
I forget what engine management system you're using. I'm using MoTec in my car, and it obviously does live tuning and it's quick and easy. Having the right operator doing the setup is vital too. Good luck with it....it's not meant to be hard to do.
Love this thread. When the time comes I'm going to either do the ITB's or Webers on my QV. How hard is it for a novice in this area? Is tuning it with MoTec very difficult?
MoTec is a piece of cake.....BUT, you don't want to do it yourself. 1 hour on a dyno and a road test and it's done. Car doesn't even get hot, if it's done by the right person. I've had it on 3 Ferraris now.
