Greetings Tifosi. Having a little stumbling on my '82 308GTSi. I am finding the exhaust pulse from the left side exhaust pipe is not as strong as the right side exhaust pipe. I had a few minutes to spare this week and only had enough time to put in new plugs on the 1-4 bank before getting called away. The stumbling is still there when cold. When the car comes up to temperature the problem is moderately reduced but the exhaust pulse is still not even. The yellow engine temp/ready light on the dash is not working now as it did before. My question is this: The 1-4 bank exhaust header pipe enters the muffler on the left side (driver's side) and the 5-8 bank enters on the passenger side. Do the pipes crossover inside the muffler? What I am trying to find out is if the left side exhaust pipe is for the 5-8 bank. I could not find a cut away pic of the 308 muffler, thus the reason for posting this inquiry on Fchat. Anyone have an answer to this question? Thanks in advance for your reply. Cheers-Colin Firth-Ontario Canada
In a word, it's normal. http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=279307&highlight=exhaust http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=200884&highlight=exhaust
You probably disturbed the connector to the thermostatic switch on the bottom of the coolant expansion tank since it is inches from where you were working. That switch controls the 'Cold Engine' light on the dash as well as the Fast Idle and Air Diverter electrovalves and closes at 122°F. ___________________________ http://www.FerrariDiagrams.com
