I too would like to do this, whenever i need a clutch job. I believe that someone mentioned Nick's Forza Ferrari can do this.

I have had 2 flywheels lightened for porsches and had a 12 pound flywheel made for my toyota. Very noticable improvement in throttle response.

A few guys have also installed low mass double disc clutches. $1500 or $2500 comes to mind, also reduced pedal effort.

    Looking forward to any info.

If I recall there was a thread about this, a search might find it.

When I needed a better clutch I looked around a bit. Nick has a package with a very light flywheel and 2 disc clutch for $3000 (about a year ago), there used to be a picture on his web site. If I recall it will save you about 18 lbs. At the time though, noone had tried it on a street car and I was just a bit nervous about chatter since the discs are solid mounted....not to say it does chatter, I just didn't know.

Tilton will custom make you a very light flywheel and fit a 3 disc carbon-carbon clutch for $5000. They told me there were a few people running the clutch on the street with good luck.

I decided that since I was primarily driving on the street, I didn't want too light of a flywheel. So I just mounted the much lighter than stock tilton clutch (smaller diameter and about 8 or 10 lbs lighter)to the stock flywheel. It cost $3500. I had to machine a pocket like 8" x .1" deep into the flywheel, so it is a little lighter than stock, but not much.

There used to be this company called paco and they would machine off your ringgear and make a solid aluminium FW then sinster a brass face on the Aluminium. Use the stock pressureplate and clutch and you got a very hot set-up and very light and very cheap. I am sure there are other machine shops who can do this type of work.

    YMMV

I talked to Tate Casey about this last week. They'll do the flywheel lightening as FBB describes.
