I am trying to obtain a ball-socket type front bonnet stay for my '83 308 QV to get back to a correct look. Two F parts guys tell me the part number #60118007 I got out of my parts manual is for the newer gas strut type stay. One parts guy thinks a GT4 ball-socket bonnet stay would fit mine. Does anyone know what is the correct part number for the ball-socket type and maybe where I can find one? I just completed a repair upgrade to my bonnet that will reduce any future danger of bending at the usual point (see pictures).

I had my sheetmetal shop bend me up a heavy gauge metal channel to fit snug over the existing support metal. Then I ground down the poorly done old weld repairs and paint coating, custom fitted it and bonded it with 3M 8115 door panel adhesive. Once I paint it black it will almost look stock-invisible. No screws or rivets! That 3M 8115 stuff holds like a solid welded bond.

Thanks for any input on this.

My GT4 does not have the ball and socket type of attachment, it has a special shouldered bolt and nut throught the bracket and strut at both ends. The 78 308 parts manual shows the same bolt, and the 81-82 Mondial shows a stud welded to the bracket with a locknut.

I suggest you try Trutlands,I believe they just picked up some N.O.S of these in a buy out! They have them featured on the Ebay section of their website.....

The same type was used on Euro GT4s and I know Eurospares in the UK have got them!

    Hope this helps,

    Cheers

    Thanks Pete,

I have inquires into all these and a few more too. So far Ricambi does not. And, T. Rutlands does not show any in stock via their search box but I emailed them anyway. We'll see what happens.
