Time for the fuel filter change on my "new" 308. It looks as if they best way to do this is to loosen the top bolt from the top then go under the car for the bottom bolt and bracket (up on jack stands?). Is there an easier/better way to do this?

    Thanks,

    Joe

Oh come on, someone must have changed their own fuel filter!

Yes, but it's more usually done as part of a bigger project -- i.e., removing the LH rear wheel and the fender liner gives much better access to work on the fuel filter and fuel lines.

That is what i did. I also used 300 psi Napa fuel line, (looks like regular rubber fuel hose but stonger). Clean the fuel pump ground connection and check all hose clamps while you are in there.

I just did this 2 weeks ago_On the GT4 there was no need to remove the wheel or the wheel inner liner.I made sure that my fuel level was as low as possible(the reserve light was on) then I jacked the left hand side of the car as high as I could go making what little fuel I had was flowing into the right hand side tank.I wanted to remove the little strainer that is in the fuel tank but I could not loosen the bolt that holds the strainer at the tank and for fear of breaking the weld on the tank I decided to leave it be.I then removed the bolt that holds the filter and removed the filter. One thing is to make note as to which direction the filter goes.Refit the new filter and tighten all the clamps.Turn the ignition key so that the fuel pump runs(DONT START THE CAR) and check for any leaks.

Thanks for the info. Jacking up just that one side is a good idea. Is that strainer in the 308GTS/B cars also?

I'll recheck the fuel lines again while under there. If they feel bad I'll be heading to NAPA.

As far as I know it is.It might be only for carbed cars but some one else might chime in to correct me
