Does anyone have any photos or have the correct procedure for attaching, placement, orientation of the gold cad bands that connect to the air intake bellows for the carburetor and the oil radiator ?

Winding direction doesn’t matter. The bands are long , I believe it’s pass through the slot twice and give a twist iirc

Out of interest what are those “ bands “ called and where do you get them ?
Do you needs a specific tool to nip them up ?

Mine all 3 are missing .
Oil cooler + 2 on the air box .

Figure they are once only hence folks rarely put them back ?

Seems you can get a kit .Tie twist things and a reel of band / tape .

So how do you make them up ?
Presume they are doubled backed after looping through ?
Or just bend back about 4 cm at the end on itself before looping round and twisting up with the tie thingy ?

This is my airbox clamp from my 1983 308 GTS. It looked like it had been removed prior to my removal, so I can't say for certain that it is exactly how the Factory configured them. Note the yellow zinc. Image Unavailable, Please Login

    Friends,

I looked through much of my factory brochures unfortunately, most have the engine on a stand not in the car will start looking at the early R&T road tests etc. My 75 has only one length wrapped around the rubber bellows not two, and my 74 has both. I was also interested in where the lock is positioned and which way it is pointed, also if some one finds any factory photos, and or tool???

Mike which is the one way?

look at brains photo. and the direction it is pointed would never matter, because im sure even at the factory it would be positioned different ways, maybe just copy ALs setup. or position the key where it makes sense to twist and tighten. its the original Italian sardine can

It is a common mistake particularly among family members and friends who are aware of my immense intellectual capacity.;)

Which ever way Luigi found to be the easiest to put them on, I doubt that there was a "position rotation around the duct" spec. The winder would most likely end up on the top or side. BTW, those are the same style bands that my 1966 BSA 650 Spitfire uses to clamp the front fork gaiters in place.
