Anyone have an idea as to what converting to electronic ignition would cost for a GT4? How about just the parts bit?

I've got a BSM electronics distributor from www.superformance.co.uk. Looks very original, but no more points to mess with... Cost: 1175 british pounds. Roughly multiply by 2 to get US$ values.

I got mine from a member on this site, used, for less than $300 (2 kits, one for each bank). Installation is about 8 hours.

I bought two Pertronix pickups for $90 each from my locall auto parts store and a plate to mount them both in one dist from an f-chatter for another $50. I wound up getting the wrong pickup ring so I had to buy one of those for an additional $30, but I shouldn't have had to. For what I'm into it for, the $500 at Don King's sounds like a good deal!

Oh buy the way when you send Don King your dizzy he rebuilds it and verifies the advance curve. When you get it back all you need to do is re-install it and set the timing with only 1 dizzy. The other dizzy only is used for distributing the spark and not for timing. I bet if the single dizzy cap fit you could get away with only 1 dizzy.

I did the Electromotive route with no dizzys, no mechanical advance, no rotor, no points....totally and completely electronic with complete adjustability. I bought it from Nick and it was around $1500 a couple years ago and came with everything I needed including wires, except a mounting plate for the coils. Various people on fchat have developed different ways of mounting the coils and brackets are available.

Nick told me a couple months ago that it would be around $2K for my GT4. I'm still planning on doing it, however, I have to let the exhaust blow over with my wife. :) The 2 extra things will be Distributor blanks to cover where the dizzys were and the mounting plate...

Plenty of pics here, it was this thread that Jonathan started that made me decide to buy an Electromotive.

I bolted on a single Unilite electronic distributor and MSD 6AL for less than $1000 with an adapter from James at Norwoods.
It's worked and started reliably every time for 5 years, and NEVER stranded me like the Marelli did.

We have over 200 Ferrari's worldwide with our Forza the direct coil set up. It has been a great set up, proven year after year, many customers using it on the track also. The car fires right up if you follow the instructions first try!

Here is a link below to our engine management page; the top link shows our direct coil ignition package. It sells for $1650.00 INCLUDING 24/7 tech support during installation. It comes with more than shown on the website. We supply relays with pigtails, fuse holders, fuses, ignition wires, custom trigger wheel, sensor & sensor bracket, I pre set the unit with a good base setting. The only thing you will have to supply for the install is a bracket to mount the coil packs & some misc wire from the battery to the relays & wire to ground the unit to the frame & block and 6-10 hours of your time depending on your mechanical skills. It is a DIY set up.

Another vote for Don King's pertronix set up. He did mine last summer and it works great. Simple to remove/install and your dizzy is all set up correctly to boot.
