The driver side shoulder belt on my car will not engage and lock up. Is there a source for the female side of the belt or an easy fix?

I also need an axle boots (C/V boot). Is there an interchange with another car or an inexpensive source? The part number is 95860404-03.

    Thanks.

Belt retractors often get debris (carpet fuzz, french fries) in their mechanism over time. They are easy to remove (the belt comes with it) from the car and once you pull off the cover they can be cleaned. A small amount of light lubrication applied to the pawl will make it work like new. It is very important to NOT GET ANY LUBE ON THE BELT, it may degrade the strength of the webbing.

The CV joints used on the 308 are standard "off the shelf" LOBRO units, the same as used on a mid 1970's and up Porsche 911. Search this forum for several threads with part #s and sources. The biggest problem is breaking loose the CV/flange bolts.

I believe the boot also cross-references with a BMW part - I think this is the one Brian Harper went with when he did his...hopefully he'll see this thread and chime in.

An inexpensive source for the boots? Have you tried the usual Ferrari suppliers? I don't remember which one, but one of the usual suspects had boots kits that were very reasonably priced - very un-Ferrari prices, but none were outrageous. I only used BMW boots because I wanted them right now (and then spent two months putting them on). I do like the construction of the BMW stlye boots better than the Porsche/Ferrari style, but the BMW style are not quite original looking - the band that clamps the boot to the metal plate is different, and I think, better. It is crimped to the metal plate at the factory, no removable clamp. It was actually a little more expensive than just the rubber bit. I think it was the boot for a BMW 635, but do a search here for BMW boot and see what you get (and now you'll get this as well). That's how I got the info.

The metal plate is silver colored instead of goldish as original and it won't use the two-bolt crescent washers that are original either. This is the best picture I have of the boot. I'm going to have to pull the car out tomorrow and clip that wire tie!
