Trying to get a definative cross reference for rear brake calipers on a 308 gt4. From what I've read in various places I've heard early Porsche 911 or 914 and read front Kia Sephia? Does anyone know for sure which rear calipers would bolt in and operate in a 308 gt4? Thanks

Are you looking to buy a whole new caliper or calipers, or do you just need to rebuild your existing ones? I too heard that 914s shared the same calipers, though it was the 914-6 - a strange enough duck in its own right - so parts for that were no easier to find than GT4 parts. I rebuilt mine using parts I sourced from T. Rutlands. Not a terribly hard job, either!

They're not exactly the same. The 914/6 caliper doesn't have the spacer between the two halves, and the bleed nipple is in a different place.

I purchased the car and someone removed the original rear calipers so I'm working from scratch so looking for new or rebuilt or a rebuildable core and trying to find the most reasonable way to do it. I know the Porsche calipers are less costly and I think they are plentyfull but I don't want buy one and it turns out to be wrong and then you buy another and so on so I'm hoping for some direction on a sure bet. Thanks for your help!

Unless you have a Dino, none of the Porsche calipers work.

While the 914-6 versions are in the identical casting, the bleeders are on the opposite end of the caliper. The 308 has the bleeders under the handbrake arm and Porsche has them on the other end.

Here's the differences in a nutshell:

    * 914-4 - 33mm pistons. Solid Rotor. Different housing (looks very similar but smaller). Uses a smaller pad.
    * Dino/914-6 - 38mm pistons. Solid Rotor, Same housing with the exception of the bleeder mentioned above.
    * 914-6/GT - 38mm pistons. Vented rotor (first vented version of this caliper and they use the 911 rear M-Caliper spacers and fasteners). Differes from the 308 caliper in the bleeder location, fasteners and the spacers are rounded not as "form fit" as the 308 variety.

As mentioned, the 914-6 is rare with 3300 examples made (41 factory GT's) so those calipers are going for a premium. We have core 308 calipers or we can rebuild yours for less than 1/2 of the ebay calipers. With you not having the cores though... Jeremy's link on ebay is a good deal.
