Well.. I checked continuity of my spark plug wires.. 5 of 8 had none. We got an 8mm Red ACCELL wire kit at Autozone (Don't tell Enzo) .. . We started thinking maybe the 90 degree connectors would work best .. . ? So, we cut off all but one of the straight connectors.. have to use a straight one for cylinder # 3 cuz of space limitations around the bracket.. BUT, after trying one or two on the Plugs/Extenders, the 90 degree plug wires end up about 1/4 inch from the valve cover. Does the proximity of the wires to the valve covers make it better to use the straight connector conformation.. or does it matter.. ?? Whaddayathink.. ? I can still change em back to the OEM straight conformation.. ?? Thanks, Jim P.S. I ground the end of the wires slightly that enters the caps.. lubed with dielectric.. seems to fit fine (I know ours are 7mm, but 8mm should be sturdier.. . ) Image Unavailable, Please Login
Jim I think that what counts is how well the plug connectors keep water and dirt out of the plug wells. They look to fit very well in your photo. The proximity of the wire to valve cover should not matter - new wires should not arc and ground out to the valve cover. If you want to use the 90deg configuration on number 3 plug, try this: -Loosen the rear fastener on the dogbone. -Remove the front fastener from the dogbone, and rotate it upward and out of the way. -Install the 90deg spark plug end, facing the same way as the other 3. -re-install the dogbone. I see that there's no way to get that 90deg connector in, but won't it fit under the dogbone mount once installed? Jonathan Denver, CO
Ya know.. I wanna make it work.. It looks neat.. BUT if I do what you're suggesting (I thot of that too!) .. I'm sure the wire would be at least touching the "dogbone" bracket (and/or dogbone).. AND the valve cover.. and possibly even slightly pinched .. Remember, I'm using 8mm wire.. . Hmmm? I'll see if it'll fit tonight .. ThAnKs.. Jim
