Does anyone have a procedure or experience with removing a startermotor from a GT4.
It sure looks tight in there. Probably have to remove the driver's side front motor mount to fish it out of the driver's side wheel well?
Problems started intermitantly with a cold motor and the Bendix did not engage on first try. After several attempts it would. However last attempt a couple of days ago it seemed like the Bendix at first would not engage (like before) and then when it did start the motor, it DID NOT DISENGAGE (from the flywheel), whirring sound, immediately shut down the motor. Now when I turn the key nothing happens except that the parking light momentariliy (as lon as I hold the key in the start position) comes on. Fortunately it all happened at home. Funny thing is that the starter was replaced about 2 years ago by previuos owner. Are starter motrs a weak point for 308s?
    Thanks in advance

I'd verify battery & starter connections in hopes of a minor problem. I heard someone say u had to turn the starter around before trying to thread it out from between block, headers & frame.

Martin you need to remove the front header heatshield, disconnect the wiring(make sure you disconnect the batery first) remove 3 bolts that are located on the bell housing and a rear nut that is located at the back of the starter bolted to the block. It's tight in there but it will come out. When I was going through my engine rebuild I removed and refitted the starter about 5 times as the auto electrician that rebuilt it didn't get it right the 1st,2nd 3rd or 4th time but eventually fixed it.Turned out to be a faultly solenoid that he claimed he replaced with a new one, so I've become an expert on it
